Today marks the debut of the final piece from Sound On Tape’s ‘Hush Harbors’ EP, released via his 904L World Class Sound label.
The complete EP, ‘Hush Harbors’, available now, boasts a bold, edgy club remix by Wilfy D from the UK, along with Sound On Tape’s dynamic reimagining of the classic UKG hit ‘Gabriel’ by Roy Davis Jr. and Peven Everett. This track had previously been offered as a complimentary download the previous year. Also featured is the signature piece, ‘Hush Harbors’, which initially dropped on January 25th.
Celebrating the single’s release, ‘Hush Harbors’ is accompanied by a raw and captivating DIY music video. It showcases Sound On Tape’s nocturnal jaunt and chronicles his DJ appearances throughout Cleveland, providing a sneak peek into the energetic local electronic music community.
Blending elements of Garage, 2-Step, and Jazz, the ‘Hush Harbors’ EP solidifies its distinctive sound. It draws inspiration from music heavyweights like El-B, Burial, Mr. Fingers, and Sticky, and pays homage to the profound impact of Black gospel luminaries such as CL Franklin, Pastor T.L. Barrett with the Youth for Christ Choir, and Mahalia Jackson.
