Taking the runway at ModaLisboa, visionary designer Lidija Kolovrat unveiled COMMON PLACE, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection for her eponymous label KOLOVRAT. Staged as a profound dialogue between ancestral lineage, cultural communion, and contemporary deconstruction, the presentation offered one of the most spiritually grounded and tactile experiences of the season.

A special thank you goes to APICCAPS Portugal for continuously championing the craft and bringing us to Lisbon to experience the heartbeat of the Portuguese design scene up close.
With a background steeped in cinema and visual arts, Kolovrat approaches fashion not merely as aesthetic adornment, but as an intimate reflection of our internal geometry. COMMON PLACE confronts our modern disconnection from ritual, using the deconstruction and rebuilding of garments as a tangible pathway back to collective origin:
“For Spring/Summer 2027, we remember where we come from. Tearing up fabrics and rebuilding silhouettes. Spiralling volumes to expand. Braiding hair to hold. These are not gestures of nostalgia, they are acts of reconnection. A wellspring of rhythm, resilience and ritual that continues to pulse through all of us, whether we acknowledge it or not… We are missing rituals, connective moments. We wander in a certain nostalgia of recognition, and so we end up recreating those rituals, showing them through clothes, through social media, to connect, to amplify our silhouettes and our persona, to be seen.”

On the runway, volumes breathed in rhythm with the moving body. Silhouettes unfolded through spiraling drape and layered release rather than constriction. Fluid sheer chiffons cascaded alongside dense, tactile jacquards, while raw frayed fringes, fabric strips, and braided accents transformed each look into a living artifact—torn apart, reconfigured, and reborn.
The color story reflected the grounded palette of memory and soil: sun-drenched earth, terracotta clay, warm ochre, and deep bone tones, punctuated by flashes of burnished gold, bruised violet, and deep grounding black. Geometric lines collided with hand-drawn curves, while shifting stripes undulated across sheer fabric like a collective pulse.
Documenting the raw energy and sculptural motion of the showcase, photographer Alexandre Azevedo captured the runway in exquisite detail for ModaLisboa powered by CANON.
