Johannes Wewetzer is interested in the grace of the human form. In his series “Rituals” he approaches the physical nature of man. Bodies, lost in space on their search for meaning. Intimacy is fundamental to life. But for many people, it is something they want to avoid, or they’ll try to avoid the emotions associated with it.
Repetitive behavior, rituals, are the basis of a meaningful life for many. Johannes Wewetzer’s work is based on classical ideas of aesthetics, but his models come from the Berlin pornography, rope, and alternative scene. Beauty is a central theme in his work. Wewetzer’s pictures are produced by screen printing or as a traditional wet print. At the same time he’s also using digital methods.
