Vulnerability is rarely a tidy, straightforward emotion; it lives in the friction between seeking radical closeness and retreating into the shadows. Arriving today via Bremen-based artist saint josy, debut EP ROTE WANGEN dives straight into that delicate balance, delivering an introspective seven-track universe of left-field experimental pop that tackles neurodivergence, queer love, sensory overload, and grief with disarming candour.
Crafted alongside creative collaborator and producer John Bonjorno, the project fuses dreamy, lush synthesiser arrangements with driving, articulate rhythmic structures. saint josy’s vocal delivery shifts constantly across the mix—at times whispering inches from your ear, then pulling back to dissolve into ambient reverb tails. It is a sonic choreography of presence and retreat, capturing the dizzying sensation of flushed cheeks, pounding pulses, and emotional exposure.

Lyrically, ROTE WANGEN rejects simplistic resolutions. The songwriting pivots from whisper-soft poetic daydreams to sharp, accusatory confrontations, mapping what it means to crave genuine human warmth inside an overstimulating, fractured world. Rather than smoothing over emotional friction, saint josy embraces contradiction as a site of resilience and quiet hope.

To celebrate the release, saint josy takes the project to the stage next week for an intimate live debut at Pony inside Theatre Bremen’s Kleines Haus.
