Shedding the Ghost: Berlin-Based Artist Molyneaux Confronts Identity on Experimental Avant-Pop Single “Nemesis”

Berlin-based Greek producer and artist Molyneaux steps into an uncompromising new chapter with “Nemesis,” a visceral, atmospheric cut that untangles the weight of past identities and institutional dogma.

Recorded and self-produced inside her studio in the heart of Kreuzberg, the track acts as the title piece and harbinger for her upcoming full-length album slated for February 2027. Lyrically, “Nemesis” zeroes in on the friction of coming of age within a conservative, Greek Orthodox upbringing. Anchored around her baptismal name—one she has long since discarded—the song navigates the suffocating expectations of heteronormativity and the lingering shadow of a designated self that refuses to quietly vanish. It is a work about radical self-authorship, chronicling what it means to build your own reality while looking the ghost of your past square in the eyes.

Sonically, Molyneaux channels the raw, shadowy aesthetics of artists like Kedr Livanskiy, Aïsha Devi, and Emika. “Nemesis” welds deconstructed club textures and gritty synthwave undertones to avant-pop sensibilities, creating a tense, nocturnal landscape. The track was mixed by Christos Bekiris and mastered by Iraklis Vlachakis, preserving a biting balance between delicate vocal intimacy and cavernous low-end grit.

Molyneaux’s multi-faceted background informs the sharp psychological depth of her output. Holding a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utrecht, her musical pedigree bridges classical choral training in Crete, jazz vocal studies, and film score composition to collaborations with underground electronic figures across Athens, Amsterdam, and Berlin (including her joint project Agatha & Molyneaux and link-ups with Vassilina, Metaman, and Princess Century). Following her 2023 debut EP Sorrow, “Nemesis” feels like a definitive line in the sand—an honest, haunting distillation of Berlin’s underground electronic current meeting deeply personal storytelling.
