SOPHIE’s Lasting Legacy: Posthumous Album Released

Today, Transgressive and Future Classic are thrilled to unveil the earlier-than-anticipated release of SOPHIE’s definitive, posthumous album. This last opus from the iconic artist features collaborations with close friends such as Kim Petras, Doss, Hannah Diamond, Bibi Bourelly, and many others. Preceding the full album drop were singles like “Reason Why” (feat. Kim Petras & BC Kingdom), “Berlin Nightmare” (feat. Evita Manji), “One More Time” (feat. Popstar), “Exhilarate” (feat. Bibi Bourelly), and “My Forever” (feat. Cecile Believe).

Crafted with SOPHIE’s brother and longtime producer, Benny Long, this album takes listeners on a journey through SOPHIE’s vivid imagination. Fans will immediately recognize her signature textures and distinctive soundscapes, qualities the New York Times praised as “head-turning, futuristic and influential.”

Divided into four unique sections, the album opens with unsettling ambient tones (“Intro (The Full Horror)”), blooms into sugary-sweet club tracks (“Live in My Truth” feat. BC Kingdom & LIZ), transitions into cutting-edge techno (“Berlin Nightmare” feat. Evita Manji), and culminates in rapturous pop melodies (“Love Me Off Earth” feat. Doss). The posthumous release imbues these tracks with profound, often bittersweet emotion for both listeners and collaborators. Reflecting on the recording of “Always and Forever” in London during the 2020 lockdowns, Hannah Diamond recalled: “It ended up being the last ever day that I saw her in person.” Nevertheless, the album stands as a testament to SOPHIE’s enduring spirit and influence on the pop music landscape.

SOPHIE’s final offering is available as a double vinyl, each side representing a different segment of the album. The pressings are available in standard black, translucent neon pink, clear, and silver.
