Marking a major homecoming on the eve of Berlin Art Week, hybrid arts collective Transmoderna will present their immersive work THE FLIP at Kühlhaus Berlin from September 8 to 13, 2026. Founded in Berlin in 2018 by creative director Ana Ofak and internationally renowned DJ/producer Steffen Berkhahn (Dixon), the collective returns to the city for their first local presentation after landmark projects at Fondation Beyeler, Centre Pompidou-Metz, and the Julia Stoschek Foundation.
Operating seamlessly between digital art, club spaces, and computational research, Transmoderna’s practice merges game engine software, 3D rendering, AI, and raw camera footage. THE FLIP centres on a 20-minute cinematic narrative charting a day in the life of Mira—an AI being constructed from fragments of the artists themselves. Through her heightened perception, capable of registering the Earth’s invisible magnetic fields, the piece reflects on planetary fragility and shifting techno-ecological realities.

Suspended across an architecture of 30 screens inside the industrial framework of Kühlhaus, the installation is paired with a spatial score composed by Dixon, Jimi Jules, and Trikk. Beyond the central screening, an adjoining room allows visitors to experience the final scene in VR, interact with an experimental sonification tool, explore a collaborative library assembled with Hopscotch Reading Room, and engage with Magnetite, a custom conversational sculpture.
Alongside the looping installation, the week features three core activations: an opening night featuring a live DJ set on September 8, an in-depth conversation on worldbuilding and perception with the founders on September 12, and a multi-artist VJ battle on the closing night, September 13.
