After the critical acclaim of her Shelter Our Time EP earlier this summer, Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist GiGi FM returns with her hypnotic new single, “Do You Know,” now out on her imprint Sea~rène.
The track expands upon the conceptual territory carved out by her recent output, fusing ethereal spoken-word poetry and vocals with broken percussive structures, low-end drill/hip-hop bass weight, and luminous ’90s synthesiser pads. Lyrically, “Do You Know” interrogates the friction of silence and the quiet complicity of looking away, translating an introspective moral tension into a cinematic piece of modern club music.
GiGi FM’s trajectory over the past year has steadily defied traditional boundaries. Having cut her teeth in South London squat raves before establishing her sonic universe in Berlin, she brings a uniquely physical approach to electronic music. Formally trained as a dancer at both the Paris Opera Ballet and Alvin Ailey in New York, GiGi treats choreography and sonic architecture as two sides of the same coin—an instinct made tangible in projects like her 2022 Magnetite EP, where she utilised MYO motion sensors to sculpt sound through bodily gesture.
Her label Sea~rène has grown into a vital canvas for this kinetic philosophy, tracing a path through psychedelic techno (Virgo Space Acid) and lush, vocal-forward jungle and drum & bass (Shelter Our Time). Alongside landmark live debuts at Draaimolen and stage curation duties at Stone Techno Festival, “Do You Know” reinforces GiGi FM’s position as an artist effortlessly operating at the intersection of dance, poetry, and cutting-edge electronic composition.
