Brussels’ thriving music scene introduces Gaiko, the Belgian-Japanese producer and DJ, with an electrifying debut album from Nous’klaer Audio. Known as Kaito Defoort, Gaiko’s self-titled nine-track project showcases a rich blend of left-field electronics, IDM, and DnB, marked by intricate drum programming and lush synths paired with contemporary piano melodies.
The album’s dynamic flow transitions from the tender “Millennium” to the euphoric highs of “Setagaya,” with standout tracks like “Martyr” and “Crush” epitomizing a unique balance of euphoria and introspection. Gaiko’s refreshing playfulness makes him a compelling new artist in the electronic music landscape.
Growing up in a musically rich environment, Gaiko’s early piano experience paved the way for his exploration of electronic music, influenced significantly by the haunting sounds of Burial. This eclectic background is evident in his energetic DJ sets across various platforms, including Kiosk Radio.
Beyond music, Gaiko has ventured into film and fashion, collaborating with brands like LOEWE and recently taking on a role in the upcoming film Soft Leaves. With a captivating blend of talents, this rising star is poised to make waves in both music and performance.
