Everyone loves a drama. Everyone loves family. None of us are feeling particularly super right now. But that’s okay… We’ve still got each other, and ‘Family Drama Volume 1’ is a reminder of how we work together and how we rise to challenges. Hot on the heels of their Excess EP, ‘Family Drama’ is the first of a three EP VA series from east London queer scene darlings Super Drama. The proceeds from all three ‘Family Drama’ EPs, and the parties that will now follow when possible, will be split between Mermaids, a Leeds based charity focusing on Trans and gender-diverse youth, and the Black LGBTQIA+ Therapy Fund.
Each EP will be five tracks deep, each one sparkling with a full range of established and exciting fresh talent, each one kicking that tush of yours into tomorrow with pure dancefloor clarity. Hannah Holland kicks off with the essential message and rolling percussive tension and jazzy flourishes of ‘People Power’, she’s joined by a fabulous rollcall: Homodrop’s Cheriii takes things back to the warehouse with ‘DRAMATOLOGY’, all acid and stampy drums, OG Homo Electric and World Unknown DJ Jaye Ward takes us on a psychedelic trip with ‘Sum Types’ while Netil Radio’s Angel D’lite follows up her recent Super Drama remix with a chaotic take on UK hardcore and jungle.
Last but not least, Super Drama themselves sign out this emphatic family affair with ‘Lace’. Ending on a dreamy, uplifting note, over the course of seven minutes they bring nothing but joy, love and mischief. And this is only part one. Stay tuned for two more volumes including the works of In Flagranti, DIY founder and Adonis/Block 9 resident Grace Sands, Michelle Manetti and many more. It lands soon.
