Taylor Castro Shows What Multi-Hyphenate Means in New EP “Intermission”

Taylor Castro, a Florida-born and Atlanta-based artist, is a singer, songwriter, screenwriter, actress, and creative who captivates audiences with her storytelling. Despite her petite stature, Taylor possesses a powerful voice that has garnered millions of streams and views. Her independent album “Girl, Afraid” (2021) showcases her lyrical prowess and ability to connect with listeners. Growing up in Florida, Taylor discovered her passion for music and writing at a young age, drawing inspiration from artists like Taylor Swift and The Lumineers. Alongside her music career, Taylor has made a mark in the film industry, starring in films such as “Assumed Killer” and “Boyfriend Killer.” Collaborating with notable producers, she released her debut album “PURE” (2018), which gained significant attention. Taylor’s talent has led her to participate in Live Nation’s Virtual World Tour and perform at Jingle Ball.

Taylor’s latest outing is one for the books, a brief but hard-hitting compendium of tracks featuring a vivacious take on a pop-rock blend tailored to Castro’s witty and -often- acerbic songwriting. The EP is fiercely true to her values and perspective, and as such you can tell there’s heaps of love and fun in equal parts down every track. One peculiarity of this EP is that it boasts a music video for each track, with each representing a step or aspect of its themes to perfection- as well as representing the huge commitment and sheer tenacity of Taylor as a performing artist.

“In its six songs, I am more ruthlessly genuine than ever before: I name names, I spare no details, and I sufficiently embarrass myself in the eyes of anyone who finds it humiliating to feel without reservation.” – Taylor Castro

Intermission EP delves into the theme of adolescence. It takes listeners on a journey of wishing to venture into the unknown, only to realize the longing for familiarity and a way back. In this collection of six songs, Taylor fearlessly embraces her authenticity, leaving no stone unturned. She courageously reveals personal details, even if it means exposing herself to potential embarrassment. The EP showcases Taylor’s growth as an artist, as she steps onto the stage alone, baring her soul like a performer forgetting their lines in a nightmare. It captures the beautifully imperfect and off-key moments in the ongoing performance of life. Despite the vulnerability, creating “Intermission” has been an immensely enjoyable experience for Taylor.

“There are no fictional characters in this one. It’s just me up there, like one of those nightmares where you forget all your lines onstage. I read something the other day. It said, ‘Life is a public performance on the violin, in which you must learn the instrument as you go along.’”  – Taylor Castro

For the work on this EP, Taylor really got to combine her love of acting and music, as you can clearly see with the music videos, each reflecting wild creativity and the acting chops of this incredibly talented artist. Do check it out, it’s as unique as they come!
