Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and transplanted to Madrid by way of Austin and Boston, Carlos J. Matos has spent a lifetime between worlds becoming familiar with spaces most people seem to avoid instinctively. Blending varied influences ranging from 80s horror to French New Wave into a unique vision at the intersection of music, fashion, and cinema, he has built a career creating narrative-driven work that feels fresh while maintaining a sense of odd familiarity.
