This editorial examines the ageing body as a temporal surface, a living archive of personal history shaped by time rather than diminished by it. Rather than stigmatising physical change, the work reframes wrinkles, age spots, and scars as markers of experience and traces of a life fully lived.
Sculptural tailoring and transparent fabrics draw reference to the body‘s inner structure, while a wide range of textures from second-skin silhouettes to loosely draped volumes showcase the outer transformation of skin over time. At its core, the editorial proposes a new perspective on age, rooted in appreciation rather than stigma, recognising the ageing body as a record of personal history and individual experience.
Yannik Mantel is a Berlin-based fashion designer. Having recently obtained his bachelor’s degree, his work focuses on structured garments rooted in tailoring and corsetry. By combining these with unconventional materials, he creates contemporary pieces defined by sculptural silhouettes. Through an ongoing exploration of techniques and craftsmanship, he translates conceptual ideas into material-driven forms.
