Ethereal beings wander a barren landscape at night in The Gloaming by fashion photographer Lucy Feng. A strange desolate landscape, somewhat martian in appearance with dry, dusty terrain and pools of water, crafted by set designer Matthew Lawrence. There’s a strange and “other” quality about the figures, portrayed through otherworldly styling by Lewis Robert Cameron alongside three-dimensional futurist beauty from make-up artist Yoko Minami and prosthetic artist Charle Ivey. A KALTBLUT exclusive.
Models move in creature-like, awkward postures, reminiscent of Odd Nerdrum’s paintings, but they are immensely beautiful too; their iridescent skin gleaming in the moonlight and a wild grace surging through their form. Even light itself falls strangely upon them, rippling in impossible formations across their flesh and alienesque garments, almost as if it pulses out from within.
There is a struggle within them, but ultimately they burst free and share a fleeting harmony with the fellow hermits they’ve crossed paths with in this dusk-draped realm, dancing in unison before striding on alone, softened yet empowered by the serenity of their precious encounter.
