“This is a fresh look at a story written by Walter Tevis “The Man Who Fell to Earth”, which was so brilliantly presented in the film in 1976. The story of the unique relationship between an Alien, who pretended to be a Human and a woman from Earth, who was so lost in her life and desperate for love. In the 1976 movie, we can understand time passing by only by good ageing makeup, which was applied to actress Candy Clark. Alien played by David Bowie has not only this weird intriguing creature makeup but was also a rebellion, a representation of man who dared to be not masculine and athletic, but rather feminine and weak and had no sex in his natural form. Androgyny was a hot topic at that time.
I tried to see this story in a modern way. Two beautiful models inspired me and let me add even more meaning to their characters. It’s not only a game of sex: is this a man? Or is this a woman? This is also a story of a broken relationship, broken lives, abandon dreams, alcoholism and dependence. And above all that, this is the story of the most lonely immigrant of all time – an alien from Mars.
That vision becomes a character makeup for my Bachelor in Makeup for Film and Television at Theater Academy August Everding (Munich, Germany). And with the help of amazing Photographers Maximilian Bridts and Diana Buenger, this story now is fixed in time in such a beautiful way.”
