Following his debut mixtape ‘Donnie’ last year, featuring American rappers OG Maco, Rome Fortune, and dopeSMOOTHIES, Gothenburg-based producer Donnie Castle returns with the gritty synth-laden single, ‘Scars’. Previously tipped as one of the most interesting producers from Sweden, Castle explains on the single, “A while back I decided to pack my bags and move to Spain. I wrote ‘Scars’ on trains, in bars, motels, all over basically. Been living here for 3 months now and have no plans on going back. The song is about that and the void created after a four-year-long relationship ended, and I genuinely wonder where she is.” ‘Scars’ is the first taster of the follow up ‘Donnie 2’, due later this year on Swedish imprint Something Beautiful. Donnie Castle is a strong contender for Beacon, Kyson and Shlohmo.
Donnie Castle introduced himself as one to watch, releasing a single trilogy, including the widely acclaimed single ‘Oooh’, throughout the spring of 2017 about his struggle leaving a destructive life behind. The singles received a lot of attention around the world, gaining radio plays on national radio in Sweden and Germany and was supported by Fresh Finds and none other than the artist Flume.
