Track Premiere: Marie Dahlstrøm – ‘Bring Me Back’

Danish neo-soul singer Marie Dahlstrøm drops ‘Bring Me Back’ taken from the upcoming EP entitled ‘Kanel’ (out 13th July). The bouncy electronic r&b number sees Marie team up once again with New York producer JNTHN STEIN, delivering a straight up three and a half minute gem. The track serves as the perfect introduction to the EP, showcasing chorus hooks, live instrumentation, jazz-inspired Rhodes flourishes and cleverly constructed beats and synth arrangements.

“I find it therapeutic to express my emotional state in my songs, using the chords and words to bring what I’m feeling at that present moment to the forefront. ‘Bring Me Back’ is generally about making decisions – whether you should choose to stay with someone or not.”

The 5 track EP, also produced by JNTHN STEIN was recorded in 1 week in Corsica earlier this year. The intense yet rewarding session meant that they could get away from any distractions and focus solely on the recording. It yielded 5 tracks from an artist at the top of her game – a marker was put down as Clash Magazine described the first single from the EP ‘Ask About Me’ as “her finest yet” last month.

Hailing from the Roskilde, Denmark (famed for the music festival), Marie has fast become known for an output of beautifully crafted jazz flavoured r&b. Drawing on influences from Nordic Jazz to WSTRN, her eclectic take on the genre has won her fans across the globe.

Having already sold out various headline shows including The Seabright Arms in March this year, Marie celebrates the EP with a headlining show at Omeara, London, Sept 20th – tickets are on sale here.
