‘BØY’ is the fresh new track taken from London based, Manchester-born Model 86’s forthcoming EP ‘The Pressure I Feel To Make Lots Of Money And Share My Life With Everyone’. Set for release on 21st December, the forward thinking EP sits in the upper echelons of experimental production: both rhythmically and melodically interesting, at times intimate and always relistenable, it’s Model’s most interesting work to date. Track three of the EP is ‘BØY’: a smooth future bass jam with glitter shimmering pads and side-stick sidechain ducking vibe. It grooves like rained on off-pink and builds to a head nod, driving through the city at night climax.
Written over the past five months since coming off his anti-depressants, the three track release bounces off the walls and stretches your expectations like nothing and everything Model has done before. A kaleidoscope beats and synths, the EP explores the nooks and crannies of experimental electronic, R&B, trap and contemporary hip-hop. Blending together a mix of vocals, beautiful refrains, bold rhythms and drops, ‘The Pressure I Feel To Make Lots Of Money And Share My Life With Everyone’ provides a sound reminiscent of Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, Mura Masa and Flume. This EP marks a move away from Model 86’s wild sampled style and on with a more future-synth, bass, pop-vocal approach whilst retaining the trademark interesting intricate production and rhythms.
