Reece Spooner teases his debut solo EP ClubPop Vol.1 on London-based Fiasco! with the thumping, ballroom-ready single ‘Gucci, Prada’. ClubPop Vol.1 is the culmination of the first year of Reece Spooner’s music production journey and a manifestation of the Fiasco! ethos. Having taught himself to produce during the pandemic, Reece’s debut four-track EP fuses influences from heavy-hitting club styles from around the world, with catchy and irreverent pop hooks, written and recorded by Reece Spooner himself. The resulting sound: club music that has anthemic appeal, and pop music that hits hard in the club.
‘Gucci, Prada’ holds a very special place in my heart as it actually was the first song I ever created and it’s really representative of the Fiasco! sound that I was developing and exploring with this EP. When I was writing the vocal hook, I was getting ready for a big party where I had planned an outfit where I was really feeling myself! That’s the aim with my music, to make people feel great and have a good time.
Fiasco! was first launched by way of a residency at iconic East-London queer venue Dalston Superstore. A vehicle for Spooner to explore and develop his DJ sound, Fiasco! very quickly grew into one of the venue’s flagship parties, thanks to its 90s gossip magazine-inspired aesthetic and its eclectic music policy of colourful, heavy-hitting dance music: ghetto house, ballroom, techno, jersey club, UK garage, electro, footwork & more. Its success from its inception gained them an invitation to Body Movements Festival 2021 and 2022.
