KALTBLUT has a special Lotte Rose Remix of Reptile Youth’s Away for you! Said to be the “bastard son of psychedelic Sixties Soul, Post Punk and Synth Pop, stirred into a lookbook-approved vodka cocktail of sweaty, high-energy post-modern pop”, Reptile Youth has managed to swoon his way into every show critic and gig-goers heart. Fellow Danish artist Lotte Rose has paired up with Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen to leave her highly unique stamp on his work.
Following some intense years of touring and recording two albums with Reptile Youth front man and songwriter Mads Damsgaard had the urge to escape to LA, for a few months of song writing and sun. For the intense studio recordings of the EP, Mads Damsgaard, welcomes Mads Tunebjerg (Kashmir) on bass, Rasmus Littauer (MØ) on drums and Mads Bergland (Broke) on guitars, into the ever evolving collective. Curiosity and open mindedness has always characterised Reptile Youth’s expression, and now more than ever. The new Reptile Youth succeeds, not unlike CBGB legends such as Talking Heads and Television, with getting an extremely danceable energy merge together with a sometimes noisy, adventurous expression. Reptile Youth is self-releasing the Away EP in collaboration with Mercedes Benz.
Lotte Rose Kjær Skau is a Danish artist and musician who works predominantly in sound art, installation and video. She makes work that renders a subject and its environment as things in oscillation between technology, cybernetics, self-enjoyment and cultural tradition; transient, virtual worlds of performance and communication mediated by computer technologies and tactile sculptural interventions of rocks, driftwood and knitting. Kjær Skau describes her work as “one big search for the void” and the interaction between feelings of nothingness and being flooded with ego. Her work is informed by a lively multitude of sources fluctuating between public and private spheres, from the machinations of the international music industry through to the artisanal handicraft traditions of her family.
