Track Premiere: Aili x Transistorcake – ‘Oki’

Aili x Transistorcake’s Dansu EP on Eskimo Recordings has already accumulated momentum. The first single ‘Dansu’ from which the EP takes its name made substantial waves upon its release in November and recently hit the top spot in Radio 1 Belgiums Vox chart amongst a spate of plaudits from the likes of Pitchfork, Indie Shuffle, and Soulwax. The duo now build on their early traction and reveal the multifaceted nature of their collaboration. Following the anthemic ‘Pari Pari’ with Aili’s distinct vocal palette creating a euphoric atmosphere, the Belgian-Japanese newcomer continues to surprise with the latest acid-tinged single ‘Oki’. The complete Dansu EP drops on June 11th (vinyl/digital) via Eskimo Recordings.

With the pair currently working together on a new live show, it’s to be hoped it won’t be too long before we can all dance together again.

“I left Tokyo for Belgium when I was 7 years old. In many ways, my Japanese stayed at that level. When I sing in Japanese it puts me into this naive, almost childlike mindset that allows me to express what I feel right away. You don’t need to understand the words just the feeling that they convey.” – Aili
