Having a relentless heavy bass pounding throughout, Autow Nite Superstore‘s ‘Bad Faith’ is paired with a fever dream of a music video by Effie Pappa, encapsulating the raw and unfiltered essence of mental decay while navigating the chaos of city traffic. “I wrote this track while I was stuck in traffic, with my tiny Nissan Micra’s speakers barely holding together some bass music,” says ANS. “I felt this is it; if you can’t escape just slam it. Political references are everywhere and this city seems to work fine favoring big corporations, towering buildings, and high-profile ignoramus, leaving everyone else aside, just waiting to be absorbed; like this is totally on OST of urban decay. Went home, and put down some kick drums, 808s, and a synth that echoed the feeling of anger that just keeps growing.”
“Autow Nite Superstore’s tracks always manage to grab me and mentally throw me in situations,” says director Effie Pappa. “’Bad Faith’ has such a great narrative and despite unveiling a progression, we visually depicted the opposite situation, showing stillness. Thomas had the video idea himself, which was a great opportunity for me to build around the theme of stagnation in modern life. A forgotten destination, a daily loop of struggle, anger, a group of people sharing the same “Bad Faith” that one day this complex chain of decay will break, without us stepping out of it.”
