We are thrilled to exclusively premiere the official music video for “My Collection,” the enchanting and unpredictable new single from Scandinavian powerhouse Brimheim. Since the release of her acclaimed 2024 sophomore album RATKING, Brimheim’s creative orbit has expanded rapidly: relentless touring, producing 44 radio shows for Danish public broadcasting, making her feature acting debut alongside Pilou Asbæk in No Rest for the Wicked, and penning original Faroese film music. Yet her latest creative breakthrough arrives from a completely unexpected sonic landscape.
“My Collection” ushers in a striking new stylistic vernacular. Built around warm piano chords steeped in the lush, eccentric harmonic sensibilities of 1970s legends like Judee Sill, Dory Previn, Karen Dalton, and Scott Walker, the song begins as a hazy, woozy ballad before unfurling into playful, cabaret-infused chamber pop. Swelling organs, muted trumpets, and vintage Mellotrons wrap seamlessly around Brimheim’s distinct, velvety vocal delivery:
“Writing new music had felt like swimming in molasses for months until ‘My Collection’ arrived; it was a breakthrough,” Brimheim shares. “The jazzy direction was surprising to both [collaborator] Søren Buhl Lassen and me. It’s a musical tradition I haven’t explored before. Yet somehow, it immediately revealed itself as the most enchanting path we could take. It felt like receiving a gift from the universe.”

Lyrically, the track constructs a surreal narrative around a mysterious collector obsessed with preserving what society throws away—detritus retrieved from gutters, beaches, and ocean floors. In Brimheim’s world, these cast-off remnants serve as an allegory for the disowned fragments of our own identities: parts suppressed because they weren’t deemed valuable by the outside world. The narrator displays her gathered relics with childlike innocence, balanced by an eerie, fatal possessiveness.
That enigmatic tension carries straight into the visual, directed by long-time collaborator Stine Emil (who previously helmed “Brand New Woman” and “Normies”). Captured against the rustic, weathered backdrop of an old horse farm, the video occupies a liminal, timeless pocket—existing somewhere suspended between a century ago and right now.
