Video Premiere: Lioness & Johanna Knutsson – ‘Oramics’

Envelope Audio delivers the ‘Pioneers’ EP featuring collaborations between label boss Nikki Pryke (Lioness) and three other Swedish producers, Johanna Knutsson, Tora Vinter and Fjäder. Taken from this release is ‘Oramics’ with the official video created by filmmaker collective What Took You So Long?. Videographer Johan Eriksson explains that “The video is a montage of women I’ve crossed paths with along my years as a filmmaker capturing stories around the world. They have all shared their story with me in one way or another and I’ve learnt something from each and every one of them. Due to this project, all their individual stories have now become intertwined into one shared journey from birth to death. The footage is captured in Ghana, Indonesia, Libera, Tonga, Rwanda, Sweden & Zimbabwe.”

Lioness continues, “The tracks on the Pioneers EP were inspired by three pioneers within electronic music, Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire and Clara Rockmore. The approach was to mould these artists tools, sounds and mannerisms, but filter them through our own, contemporary creative lenses. In ‘Oramics’, we focused on Daphne Oram’s feeling for ambient soundscapes, mimicked some of the sounds in her sonic world, and were inspired by the fun-loving, almost whimsical melodic patterns she created.”
