Mila V is stirring anticipation for her upcoming EP, Static, with the song and video release for “Reno’s Carpool”. In collaboration with co-director and costume designer Jessica van Halteren and stylist and creative consultant Ricardo Van Lachterop, Mila V delivers a meticulously crafted, fantasy-driven aesthetic. “Reno’s Carpool” functions as a short film, exploring themes of self-oppression and ego dominance. The track’s shuddering beats and provocative lyrics make it a stark, personal protest, aiming to expose the true nature of others. The music video transports viewers into a captivating fantasy, neo-noir universe, where Mila V is depicted as being trapped within a metaphorical cage, hypnotized, representing the silenced and confined self. Alongside her, the Chameleon-man character and his elf-helpers serve as symbols of deceit and oppression, representing those who maintain their power by subjugating others. As the video unfolds, Mila V confronts her past, ultimately revealing her strength.
Born and raised in Amsterdam, Mila V debuted in 2021 as a music producer, composer, and video director. Her musical journey underwent a significant transformation following the release of her second EP, Slow Burn, in 2022. The momentum continued with her EP Cracks, which included a vinyl and merchandise collaboration with fashion label Patta. Gaining further recognition, Mila V has opened for Eartheater and performed at prominent venues like Tresor in Berlin and Lentekabinet Festival in Amsterdam.
It is positioned somewhere between negative and positive charges, Static channels a raging energy release. This latest EP takes listeners on an electrifying journey, blending ground-shaking rhythms, raw beats, and piercing vocals into a compelling synergy. Static explores a spectrum of energy releases—from dark and healing to empowering. It stands as both a fierce battle against the egos of others and an internal conflict striving for self-expression, existing in a dreamlike state where perceptions shift and reality blurs.
