SADO OPERA are back with a new dance floor killer: You Make Me….Ah! Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss” (1908) and Magritte’s “The Lovers” (1928) – two famous art scenes recreated in the video are both repositioned to highlight the limiting forces of heteronormative romance. Known for being one of Berlin’s craziest and most expressive music exports, the resident band of the famous Berlin nightclub Wilde Renate regularly amazes with their provocative and kinky live performances.
SADO OPERA is a queer performance group known for their extravagant and eccentric stage shows. The legendary US talk show host Conan O’Brien selected SADO OPERA as a musical symbol of Berlin and joined them onstage for his TV special about the German capital. The band plays shows throughout Europe, spreading their propaganda of unrestrained, gender-ambivalent love. Their songs offer a mix of energized beats, grooving basslines and swelling synthesizers, bringing to mind 80s punk funk and glorious Italo-disco.
