Pakistani multidisciplinary artist Wooly and the Uke is sharing her latest single “How”, accompanied by a cinematic video directed by herself.
With the song, Wooly and the Uke ask the listeners how we get so far from where they pick and play our cards? She’s questioning herself and the world around her about the inequalities of life, how one could live a lavish life, while society restricts others.
“How” is the second musical visual piece directed by Jannat Sohail aka Wooly and the Uke, following “Home“, which got selected for Best Music Video at the Indie Film Fest 2021 in the United States. The video focuses on her traditional South Asian “dinner table”, where the table is a performance stage. Each family member comes with their best acting, moving constantly between how they’re feeling inside to controlling what they display outwardly. The domino effect carries – the missiles are pointed at each other, while being humiliatingly defensive, not knowing that all appear as transparent as cellophane.
