vōx and Salyu cross borders on ‘I Would’

LA-based up-and-comer vōx joins forces with Platinum selling Japanese experimental artist Salyu on their new song I Would. I Would is a world of its own. In a bed of breakbeat, the two artists call to each other in their native languages speaking to a distance and longing that defined the very creation of the piece.

The song is a nod to my own neurodivergence and how much I hate phone calls. I will literally avoid them at any cost! In the height of lockdown this avoidance tactic made me feel so lonely and disconnected from the people I loved. In the song I’m overcoming that fear to support someone I love.

– vōx

I Would connects the east and west and was born after the two musicians met at Mutek Japan in 2019. With the help of producer Alex Tanas (Sabrina Claudio, AUDREY NUNA) and music director Ken Masui (Mr.Children), the two musicians worked totally remotely during a period when travel to Japan was impossible due to travel restrictions. Rising beyond language barriers, vōx and Salyu came together through a common yearning to connect through emotion and music.
