WAWWA Clothing Launches Ltd Edition Cloud Camo Capsule Collection For Summer ‘21

WAWWA Clothing takes inspiration from the vibrant ecosystems of the biodiverse jungles for their S/S21 collection, which sees the Manchester-based sustainable brand introduce their ‘Cloud Camo’ capsule collection.

The S/S21 ‘Growing Amok’ collection from WAWWA is inspired by the noisy, complex, visual aesthetic of the jungle. The collection name is taken from the phrase ‘running amok’, applying the wild, overgrown, jungle inspiration to a more familiar rewilding concept. The seasonal theme not only applies to allowing nature to thrive, but to reconnecting a modern society – both rural and urban – with wilder nature… human rewilding.

At high altitudes in the jungle the dense forest, tangled vegetation and tall trees through which little light can penetrate become a mysterious world veiled in mist. It’s this ‘Cloud Forest’ that helped WAWWA create their highlight of the season… The Cloud Camo Collection.

The stand out bespoke, large scale camo is printed on organic canvas and organic ripstop and is produced in the UK. The collection (bar one piece) has been made in the WAWWA micro-factory in Manchester and includes a; Climbing Pant, Shorts, Jonah Rugby Shirt, L/S and S/S T-Shirts, Camp Cap, Cross Body Bag and Face Mask. The trousers come with a built-in adjustable belt and the bag features an antimicrobial hemp strap and shot cord closure. The organic Jonah rugby shirts are made in Portugal and individually hand-dyed in the UK, resulting in a completely unique finish to every piece. The lively print uses an overlaying dye technique to achieve its camo print.

WAWWA Clothing
Clothing that puts people and the planet before profits

Manchester-based WAWWA Clothing is a sustainable brand making organic, fairtrade, vegan, planet-friendly clothing with a positive social impact.

WAWWA offer a wide range of casual and wearable styles as well as accessories that work on the model of one bought, one donated, as part of their 1+1 collection. Designed with durability in mind, WAWWA utilises sustainable materials to create functional garments that minimise their impact on both the environment and those that inhabit it.

WAWWA partner factories are all carefully selected. Each one is family-owned and shares its passion for producing garments in the most sustainable and ethical manner. WAWWA have also recently started production in-house, in their new Manchester-based factory. The factory was set up when the pandemic hit, as a reaction to the need for face masks and to reduce demand on PPE at the time. Now the majority of the accessories on offer and a good proportion of their woven styles are being made in-house.

Going forward, the Manchester factory will be the lifeblood of the brands’ sustainable approach, enabling ultimate control over how the pieces are produced, creating a truly transparent supply chain. The factory also enables WAWWA to train local people, stemming the migration of talented designers, cutters and seamstresses out of Manchester, a city draped in textile heritage.
