yuné pinku releases her debut EP Bluff

Hotly tipped producer and songwriter yuné pinku releases her debut EP “Bluff”, a glowing amalgamation of breakbeats, ambience and barrier-defying club tracks. It’s a dazzling first look into the kaleidoscopic world of yuné pinku’s creation, a melancholic waltz through bubbling dimensions and Y2K inspired visual cues.

First single ‘Laylo’ layers mesmeric dance hooks in clever, textural ways, the title track employs scuttly garage drums with golden era UKG bass stabs, while ‘Affection’ (with its must-watch, iridescent video-trip) takes on a dubby bassline reminiscent of experimental early 00s post-dubstep. It makes for a heady, thrilling first statement of intent. The penultimate single, ‘DC Rot’ balances a multitude of wavering chords and melodies. Undoubtedly a nod to UK rave culture, the introduction of phased-out breakbeats and pipe harmonies successfully blur any attempt at boxing this track firmly within a specific genre in true yuné pinku style. The visual accompaniment is an ode to homemade skate videos, starring yuné’s sister and pro skater Faith.

Bluff is about letting go and reeling in, finding your feet in the night life world. I think this song is a kind of an ode to London night life and it’s a song I think really sums up my feeling of the good times I had as a teenager in London, but also with the slight paranoia of the danger that exists in the night world. The title bluff is about playing the game and showing your best poker face.

Having collaborated with rising Australian dance star Logic1000 on breakout hit ‘What You Like’ and a co-sign from Joy Orbison, who invited her to contribute a guest mix during his Radio 1 residency last year, yunè pinku is steadily rising through the ranks of dance music’s finest. Kicking off 2022 with a coveted mix for The Blessed Madonna on New Years Day and with “Laylo” and “Affection” receiving key press, playlist and extensive radio support, she’s been championed by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Danny Howard, Jamz Supernova, Matt Wilkinson, and many many more. This multi-talented rising star is primed and ready to ascend to the higher echelons of dance music and beyond.
