It’s that special time of the year again! Calling all art, music, and video enthusiasts! The Berlin Music Video Awards returns for its 13th edition from June 12-14, featuring 16 award categories, exclusive screenings, live performances, DJ sets, after-parties, networking sessions, stage talks, and amazing food. What surprises await this year?
BMVA’s Jaw-Dropping Fashion Moments
The Berlin Music Video Awards is where creativity and confidence collide. It’s the ultimate space where filmmakers, musicians, and industry insiders come to serve looks and push their boldest visions. Expect avant-garde silhouettes, daring styles, and outfits that rewrite the rules. In Berlin, music and style don’t just exist on the screens, they take center stage with many of the guests.
BMVA isn’t just an awards show; it’s a moment of self-expression where individuality shines through. The jaw-dropping outfits aren’t limited to the nominees; they’re on full display from many of the guests, too. Every year, the event also welcomes guests from the fashion world, many of whom have contributed to the videos showcased at the festival. Style is an integral part of music videos, helping to tell a deeper story and elevate the creative vision.
This year, model and actress Alana Monteiro, who submitted her video, is expected to attend. Recently branching out into music, Alana is eager to connect with filmmakers and music producers as she plans her upcoming albums. She’s also been engaging with her 6.3 million followers on Instagram, recently sharing a story after receiving a badge of honor from the Berlin Music Video Awards. Fans can follow her at @alanamonteiro for the latest updates. For many, the reveal of these cutting-edge looks is the real showstopper, an unapologetic celebration of boldness and chic creativity.
Small Budget, Big bush!
Dornika’s “Bush” nominated in Low Budget category, directed by Ronen Eldar is a fearless, campy, and unapologetically queer visual riot. The queer scene beloved artist who performed last year on the stage of the Berlin Music Video Awards is coming back with a new hit. The video is a celebration of self-expression and sexuality. The Berlin-based artist is making her way again into the international selection, one of the very few local videos that will represent the spirit of Berlin as a nominee this year.
Exploring themes of intimacy and raw emotion, Swallow Me Whole isn’t the only nominee capturing deep personal connections on screen. The Irrepressibles’ Ecstasy Homosexuality takes a similarly intimate yet daring approach.
The video nominated in the “Best Editor” category, with great work by editor Samuel Marr it is an unfiltered portrayal of human connection, passion, and the fluid nature of love. But beyond its aesthetic brilliance, “Ecstasy Homosexuality” challenges norms and celebrates the beauty of queer love. It embraces themes of freedom, sensuality, and emotional connection in a way that feels both fearless and deeply moving. Every frame pulses with unapologetic authenticity, making it impossible to look away.
Will it also capture the hearts of audiences and judges alike? Whether it becomes a standout winner, it will leave an unforgettable impression.
The colors…
The Best Art Director category this year is truly a vibrant celebration of color and cultures. Let the show begin!
Berlin Music Video Awards is also a place that gives a spotlight to unique and incredible performances. Who will take the spotlight at this year’s stage?
Ice Zaddy is taking over! The Swiss-based artist is making waves with her signature mix of hip-hop, catchy hooks, and dance vibes. She calls it Bad Bitch Music—a sound built to empower, inspire, and turn up the confidence dial to max.
From her colorful hair and extra-long nails, Ice Zaddy is here to claim her throne—and she’s doing it with style, swagger, and a whole lot of attitude.
Other interesting shows by nominees will include the female rapper Lamia (Best Low Budget) and Ballet Sur_Real (nominated in Best Experimental). More live shows, DJs and festivities will be announced on the festival’s website in the coming days! Altogether, the organizer Aviel Silook says that there are over 25 performers involved this year at the event.
Past event visitors report that the show is deeply tied to Berlin’s underground culture. Unlike the polished, brand-driven looks at mainstream events, BMVA outfits are a mix of DIY creativity, theatrical expression, and bold individuality. The artists behind the nominated videos often attend, bringing the same fearless creativity to their looks as they do to their work. Here, they’re not just expressing themselves through film but in real life, surrounded by a community that thrives on originality and pushes boundaries together. It’s a space where style isn’t about status but about artistic freedom, attitude, and a shared passion for visual storytelling.
