A Masterclass in Sonic Alchemy: SON Estrella Galicia Ignited Bi Nuu Once Again! Feat. Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Meagre Martin and ULEX

Berlin’s subcultural pulse found its perfect home on May 21st as SON Estrella Galicia returned to Bi Nuu, proving yet again why it remains one of the most vital veins of the city’s live music landscape. It was another great night filled with music, sweat, and that raw, unfiltered energy we live for, a seamless collision of international boundary-pushers and local force-of-natures.

For those who couldn’t squeeze into the packed venue, or those simply wishing to relive the fever dream, our photographer Anna Vis went for us to the event to shoot the magic. Her lens captured the sweat, the strobe lights, and the pure, unadulterated ecstasy of a crowd completely surrendered to the soundwaves.

Following a legacy of sold-out nights that have seen heavyweights like Geordie Greep and Los Bitchos grace the series, expectations were sky-high. But SON Estrella Galicia doesn’t just meet expectations; they curate culture. The night was a beautifully curated testament to the emerging voices radically reshaping today’s indie and alternative soundscapes.

Opening the ritual was ULEX, a fierce young quartet straight out of Compostela. They set the basement ablaze with a vibrant, raw interpretation of rock music heavily injected with infectious cumbia grooves. Channelling the rebellious spirit of Galician youth, they proved that geography is no barrier to rhythm, demanding early arrivals to move their feet from the very first chord.

Then came home-turf heroes Meagre Martin. The Berlin-based trio delivered a masterclass in emotional resonance, weaving their signature tapestry of Americana, indie rock, and lo-fi “faux-country.” Fresh off the momentum of their critically acclaimed debut Gut Punch and their recent Up To Snuff EP, their set felt deeply intimate yet remarkably expansive, a sonic hug wrapped in bittersweet guitar riffs.

But it was the headline act, London’s Man/Woman/Chainsaw, that pushed the night into absolute chaos. The hype surrounding this six-piece is real, and seeing them live explains why. Watching them perform is like witnessing a young band in the process of inventing something ecstatically new. Blending post-punk urgency with unpredictable art-rock arrangements, they tore through their set with a feral, cinematic intensity. Teasing cuts from their highly anticipated debut album Cannonball, they left the Bi Nuu crowd breathless, bruised, and begging for more.

Beyond the stage, SON Estrella Galicia effortlessly maintained its signature synergy of cutting-edge music and premium craft beer culture, fostering the exact kind of creative community that keeps Berlin’s heart beating. If you missed it, let Anna Vis’s gallery do the talking, and make sure you don’t skip the next one.
