A group exhibition, titled ALTERED EMOTIONS, curated by Johanne Björklund Larsen and Cille SCH, is set to taking place at ARTCO Gallery in Berlin. The exhibition, featuring works by artists 11v151131_m06, Aaron Scheer, Anna Ehrenstein, Arne Grugel, Anna Nezhnaya, Cille Sch, Franco D. Sosio, Johannes Ehemann, Ju Schnee, Katya Quel, Tabitha Swanson, and Zoltani, along with guest artists, aims to delve into the profound impact that technological advancements have on our perception and interaction with the world around us.
Running till July 22, ALTERED EMOTIONS examines the interconnected space of empathy, meaning, and perception, offering a kaleidoscopic exploration of how we experience reality in the face of technological advancements. The exhibition features a wide range of mediums, utilizing aesthetics to explore new structures that frame our understanding of the world.
In today’s society, technological innovations blur the boundaries between the digital and analogue worlds, resulting in a dual existence where our focus is split between the physical and the digital realms. The influx of information from various devices has created a culture of superficial engagement, where understanding is superficial and in-depth exploration is rare. This new behaviour not only affects our interactions online but also influences our behaviour offline.
To illustrate this phenomenon, artist 11v151131_m06, also known as Julio Clavijo, explores the convergence of rituals, ancient artefacts, and digital interventions in his work. Clavijo utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and generative algorithms to create images that become windows into a parallel reality. By challenging AI to interpret concepts from a non-human perspective, Clavijo creates artificial environments that amplify, distort, and decompose everyday rituals, thereby reflecting our relationship with the future and the past.
