As showcased during Berlin Fashion Week, AVENIR continues its tradition of giving voice to pressing social themes through upcycling.

In this collection, AVENIR explores the powerful symbolism of body hair, which serves as a connecting force for all of us. This duality of being both possessed and desired reflects notions of intimacy, religiosity, and intense political ideals through AVENIR’s unique lens. By embracing these concepts, AVENIR sets the stage for self-determination and the fight against oppression.
The show unfolded within the breathtaking St. Elisabeth Church, its architectural nuances adding a spiritual dimension to AVENIR’s message. The visual aesthetics further challenge gender norms and affirm personal liberties. Accompanied by Julian and Liam Vice’s quadraphonic sound, the diverse casting and gender fluidity take on even greater symbolic meaning. AVENIR proves once again its expertise in creating wearable, gender-neutral fashion that embodies liberation.
The collection breathes new life into classic tailoring, skillfully challenging patriarchal archetypes of masculinity. Organic forms disrupt rigid norms, casting historic silhouettes in a fresh light. Intricate denim sets and accessories mesmerize with hypnotic details, while jackets and outerwear embrace intertwined and knotted elements. Denim, a material steeped in feminist symbolism since its revolutionary adoption by women’s rights activists, takes center stage, amplifying the collection’s feminist undertones. Recycled suit fabrics, shirting, and knitwear evoke a dissonant echo, united by the show’s leitmotif: hair. Symbolically, “body hair” plays a vital role in each garment, emphasizing the autonomy, agency, and uniqueness of every individual who views or wears them.
With the Synthesis collection, AVENIR continues to showcase its talent for playful and wearable upcycled fashion. Yet, it also delivers a powerful statement for inclusivity, femininity, and hope. ABOUT AVENIR
AVENIR is an upcycling label for made-to-measure and small series of garments. AVENIR was founded in Berlin in early 2020 with the mission to avoid textile waste and protect the environment, therefore only existing fabrics are used for the collections. AVENIR’s pieces are (re)made from overproduced and discarded textiles that would otherwise be disposed of. Denim is a focus for the brand, as used denim is widely available and the original production process is a huge polluter and burden on nature and people. Pieces designed from the rugged and durable fabric become new favorites that can serve as both daily companions and statement pieces.
