Educate Your Ears: TRACE

You Knocked On My Door To See The Stars shows TRACE radically committed to building her transgressive pop universe through unexpected twists and turns, exploding genres, shooting hooks and melodies, all gracefully held together by her glistening production and her beautiful vocals and words.

You Knocked On My Door To See The Stars is an intimate EP born out of healing and impatience, where TRACE is radically committed to building her transgressive pop universe. Every song is a vicious trip full of unexpected twists and turns, exploding genres, shooting hooks, and melodies gracefully held together by her glistening production and beautiful vocals and words. In three fast-paced songs, TRACE tells a complex queer love story in fast-forwards, rewinds, prayers, and dreams. Follow her to the end of that love story, to the outskirts of bodily and mental integrity inside love, intimacy, and attachment. The audience can feel TRACE and her trans body and soul constantly being undone and yet emerging again and again in another sweeping musical moment that seems to keep her afloat.

TRACE is a singer, songwriter, producer, performer, and instrumentalist currently based in Cologne. She builds her transgressive pop universe through records, live shows, and visuals, where one can discover visceral screaming inside of dream pop, soft falsettos amidst noisy math rock passages, deep guttural vocals embedded in glitch pop, and emo guitar riffs. In her music and art, she creates deep intimacy with herself, her trans* body, and her audiences. TRACE breathes life into spaces, speculations, and voices where she, her siblings, and her loved ones can exist, rage, mourn, and make love more freely. She is committed to exploding the musical preconceptions of what trans*ness can sound and look like.
