Ferdows Collection by Hamoon Mahmoodi

Hamoon Mahmoodi is a 24 years old photographer and fashion designer from Iran. The Ferdows uses traditional patterns in a different way than their custom usage and sight. The cloth used in mens public bathrooms years ago, and then on has carried the indication of mens patriarchy and old beliefs has been given a different look and meaning.

Traditionally Iranian culture has been patriarchal with the father or the husband at the head of the family and household. ... The patriarchal system involves the control of both wives and children by the husband or the father and in their absence by other male relatives For this reason, everything except the definition of masculinity desired by a patriarchal society is isolated, I used fabrics that had different uses, each of which was a sign of patriarchy, and showed the stereotypical masculinity in society in a different way. And by using Mythical creature like Centaur and Mermaid, I wanted to point out that gender definitions is completely imaginary and only cause resentment and hatred to spread among humans.
