“The editorial “Granstalgia” explores the newfound appreciation of the elderly due to the coronavirus pandemic, the forefront of our minds as we stay home to protect them; uniting prohibited forcing us to value our time with them. During the lockdown, we were all able to experience that sense of isolation the elderly endure through shielding and living in care homes, as well as the feeling of retirement while in quarantine- not being able to work, rediscovering, and finding new hobbies. “Granstalgia” features clothing that is reminiscent of a generation that society has been separated from over this past year. The boy featured, Ben Clifton has been leading the way in this sense of style, an old soul with young energy. I like to embrace my subject’s playful childlike nature in my work, experimenting with pose through both direction and my model’s natural demeanor.”

“I am a 21-year-old creative based in Manchester. My work embodies childhood naivety, a love letter to my hometown in the Highlands of Scotland- especially the bonds of the boys and men my hometown shapes- and the vibrancy of every day. I have always been drawn to photographing boys, what they get up to is never for show but for their own amusement, it’s real and raw, bonds strong but never showcased. Boys are both innocent and mischievous simultaneously, loud but reserved, carefree but vulnerable.
