I‘ll always be a mystery to you

A KALTBLUT exclusive. Belarus-born, Berlin-based photographer Tatsiana Tribunalova teamed up with the highly talented upcoming fashion designer Aziz Rebar, the winner of the international design award, for a peculiar photoshoot of his latest „Ludwig II“ collection. Make up & hair by Jasmin Bogade.

Ludwig II. Mythical fairytale king of Bavaria. His legendary life and his death in 1886, which remains a mystery to this day, were the starting point for the collection. It was not the historical reappraisal of the circumstances of his life that stood in the foreground for the young designer, but the look behind the myth, the king’s passions and tortures of life. Aziz began to tell his own myth, his own fairy tale, which is about his encounter with Ludwig II in his dreams. The legendary and nightmarish creatures that the designer encountered in the darkness of his dreams formed the basis for the development of the collection. Ludwig‘s delusions of grandeur as well as his alleged mental illness were also an important aspect in the development of the collection. Grotesque human sculptures were created as an expression of the figurative dream sequences. Each form, each cut is unique, delusionally emancipating itself from the conventional body and cut systems and exploding the context of dress in many ways.

The result is clothing sculptures that give textile form to Ludwig‘s obsession, his escape from the real world into his delusional fantasy. Dreamlike beings beyond time. An eternal mystery…
