Scallywag Fox was born in Stoke-on-Trent, a city located between Manchester and Birmingham in the UK. After graduating from Staffordshire University he moved to the capital and has been living and working as a fashion and portrait photographer in East London for 10 years. His personal work is often centred around queer culture and the blurring of gender barriers as well as exploration of sexuality. His style takes inspiration from baroque painters such as Caravaggio in terms of subject and lighting. For the ‘Cult of Beauty’ series he recreated many traditional paintings adding modern elements and anachronisms which comment on our reliance upon technology and the selfie generation. In this shoot, exclusively for Kaltblut, he captures model Jake Hold as if he were a model posing for his portrait in the painters studio. The modern bondage styling by Lidlbillionaire and hair and makeup by Paul Rodgers bring the images into our present day with a feeling of danger and an invitation to take part.
