Press Play: Jon Darc & Lucy Dye – ‘Lucifer As a Girl’

‘Lucifer Is A Girl’ is a musical collaboration between the two artists and friends Lucy Dye and Jon Darc, who both share a feminist and queer background. Their ideals of gender equality and freedom of expression encouraged them to make an audio-visual project which would break up the stereotypes of the society they grew up in. ‘Lucifer As A Girl’ is a poetic exploration of the female soul. The admiring observation of the bewitching antagonisms that form the spirit of a woman illustrates how a male character embraces his own female sides in the process. The video is a beacon for strong femininity, exchanging the genders in an alternate version of the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. Hereby the woman becomes the heroine of the story saving the man from the claws of toxic masculinity.

Lucy Dye is a Berlin-based Singer, Songwriter and Producer. She is currently working on her debut EP The Hurting, which is to be released by the end of March 2021. Her moody electronic pop sound and powerful vocal performance circle around themes of temptation and seduction, dependence, obsession and manipulation. It is the first of 4 EPs, which combined tell the story of The Healing Process.

Jon Darc is a singer, songwriter and performance artist with an unconventional approach to sound and visual aesthetics. He creates transmedia live events that bridge techniques from different art forms and celebrates Avant Pop and Conceptronica. Jon Darc is an art genre dedicated to everyone who believes in equality and freedom. His latest releases Moving Meadows and Golden Boy (November 2020) are inspired by experiences of love and loss, the spirit of youth, clubbing and social criticism the LGBTQ+ scene has to deal with.
