New Balance Unveils the CT500AG, a Nod to 80s Tennis Splendor

Over 40 years since its debut and following its reintroduction with Aimé Leon Dore in September 2023, New Balance is resurrecting the T500. The reissue of this classic sneaker pays tribute to the shoe’s heritage and reimagines the essence of “Quiet Luxury”. First launched in 1982, the T500 celebrates the early 80s tennis style, featuring high-quality craftsmanship and a design that transcends time.

Originally released with the vision of not only enhancing performance on the tennis court but also embodying the sport’s elegant spirit off the court, the T500 was an instance of design meeting function. The attributes that distinguished the shoe back in 1982 continue to render it a timeless staple today. Its revival promises to carry on this legacy with renewed vigour, emphasizing premium materials and craftsmanship. The reimagined upper, crafted from suede and nubuck and adorned with perforated details, refines the T500’s familiar aesthetic.

To celebrate the relaunch, New Balance releases the campaign film “Quiet Please”, an ode to the sneaker’s tennis-oriented origins. Directed by Francis Plummer and starring Chris Cadaver, the film showcases the T500 in a luxurious setting that blends New Balance’s signature charm with the shoe’s upgraded persona.
