A Club Within the Festival

One of the standout features of Primavera Sound Barcelona was the Boiler Room x CUPRA stage. In just two years, this stage has firmly established itself within the musical ecosystem of the festival, making it hard to remember what the Parc del Fòrum was like before its arrival. This iconic dancefloor has become a pilgrimage site for club aficionados, and it was in full swing from May 30th to June 1st.

Primavera Sound once again had an ace up its sleeve, enhancing the electronic side of the line-up with the Boiler Room x CUPRA stage. This stage has become a club within the festival, contributing significantly to its legend.

An Unforgettable Line-Up

The partnership between Boiler Room, CUPRA, and Primavera Sound remains committed to avant-garde and bold performances. This year’s line-up was no exception, featuring:

Arca: A transgressive DJ set that pushed boundaries.
Bb trickz: Leaping the internet to his first show at a Spanish festival.
Evian Christ: Making a highly anticipated Boiler Room debut.
Erika de Casier: Showcasing her signature R&B style.
Snow Strippers: Bringing their hilarious chaos to the stage.
DJ Spanish Fly: The pioneering godfather of Memphis rap.
Joker: The wonky guru of unique soundscapes.

The Boiler Room x CUPRA stage defied labels, offering a diverse range of sounds from the mutant baile funk of Brazilian DJ Ramon Sucesso to the Arab Latin fusion of 3Phaz, and the supersonic hip-hop of They Hate Change. The dark b2b sets between Demdike Stare and Raime, as well as the rare appearance of reggaeton founding father DJ Negro, also added to the eclectic mix.

A Platform for Visibility and Inclusivity

Beyond the music, the Boiler Room x CUPRA stage was a modern dancefloor that served as a platform for visibility and inclusivity. Dissident proposals found their voice here, with performances from the Latineo collective featuring SoFTT, Safety Trance, Amantra, and M8NSE. Egyptian artist El Kontessa and Ethiopian sensation Adrasha represented vibrant, local scenes yet to be widely discovered. Spanish-Cuban Toccororo showcased an alternative Latin culture with a touching sample from her CAOTICA party.

Conclusion

Our weekend at the CUPRA x Primavera Sound Experience was a testament to CUPRA’s ethos as a lifestyle brand and design pioneer. The Boiler Room x CUPRA stage provided an unparalleled musical journey, blending fun with deep cultural significance. We are already looking forward to next year’s event, eager to see how CUPRA will continue to innovate and inspire.
