Psoriasis

Introducing designer Ardalan Ahangaran with this editorial and film. Photography by Lorenz-Gustav Kröger. The models are Ben Frenzer, Joe Marbes and Lisa Wenzel. This three-look fashion collection explores the skin condition psoriasis and translates its visual and emotional characteristics into garment form. Each look reflects different stages and sensations associated with the disease. Psoriasis affects millions of people worldwide, yet the physical and emotional struggles surrounding it are rarely addressed openly. This collection aims to create awareness and encourage a more honest conversation about the condition, how it appears, how it functions, and most importantly, how it feels to live with it.

To visualise these experiences, custom-printed fabrics derived from imagery of the disease were developed to mimic the layered textures of affected skin. The garments intentionally evoke a sense of discomfort or unease, confronting the viewer with surfaces that feel strange, almost disturbing.

Unnatural silhouettes and raised structures distort the body’s proportions, referencing swelling and irregular skin formations. Through three-dimensional applications and layered constructions, the pieces emphasise vulnerability, exposing a raw and almost visceral quality that reflects the painful and often hidden reality of the condition.
