Res Ispa. The destination for premium handmade travel leisure goods

Res Ipsa was born out of a desire to break with convention. Lawyers by trade, Res Ipsa founders, Josh and Odini know a thing or two about the often dull uniformity of men’s professional and dress wear. While on a trip to Istanbul, Turkey they fell in love with the bright patterns, intricate design, and history of kilim rugs. Strikingly different from the monotone and sober shades often seen in the courtroom, Josh and Odini knew there was something special to be made out of the kilim.

A classic British loafer was chosen as the first prototype and the idea for Res Ipsa was born. Today, Josh and Odini are still sourcing the most interesting materials for products that are durable, comfortable and self-evidently stylish.

Taking inspiration from their extensive legal background, Josh and Odini felt their brand and style could be summed up in two words: Res Ipsa. The Latin phrase, res ipsa loquitur literally translates to: “the thing speaks for itself.” In law, the res ipsa doctrine was first used in the English court case Byrne v. Boadle (1863) and applies to self-evident facts.

“Best known for our handmade kilim shoes, and other kilim travel accessories, Res Ipsa is still inspired by our travels to the great cities of the world. From vacations in Nantucket or Panama City Beach to everyday life in New York City, our brand is travel.”

“Today, Res Ipsa is the destination for premium handmade travel leisure goods. Whether you’re far from home or returning there, travel with us.”
