Sound of the Week: FILLY – Music So Loud I Can’t Hear A Thing

The Vienna-based singer, DJ, and producer FILLY is entering the hyperpop scene with her debut EP “Music So Loud I Can’t Hear A Thing.” In this captivating collection, released via Interscope Records, she unfolds her distinctive club sound and uses volume as a means to escape the noise of adulthood and the pressures of the music industry.

“Music So Loud I Can’t Hear A Thing” reflects the emotional rollercoaster of young life, transforming the challenges of early adulthood into dynamic songs about relationships and inner conflicts. FILLY encourages her listeners to embrace the chaos and turn it into something poignant, rather than trying to escape it. Authentic and empathetic, she speaks about her creative process: “This project is my homage to escaping reality… Sometimes the only thing you can do is crank up the volume until the worries fade away.”

Accompanying the EP is the official music video for the lead single “Taxi Driver,” which showcases FILLY and her friends on a turbulent, chaotic taxi ride. The video is a visual explosion that does justice to her signature, otherworldly personality and perfectly captures the energy of her new sound.

Since her breakthrough with “Motorola” in 2022, the artist has made a name for herself, shining at festivals like Lollapalooza Berlin. Her unmistakable style combines sugary synthesisers with high-energy beats and personal lyrics that transport listeners to another world. FILLY remains one of the most distinctive voices in electronic pop, offering us a striking taste of what’s to come with this new EP.
