Claudia Fischer says: ” Originally from Munich, Germany, I am currently living and working as a photographer in South Australia. I love adding personal elements of either the model’s life or mine to a shoot, and to bring in elements of the location. This editorial was shot around where Jeremy grew up, in a rural area just south of Adelaide, embracing the harsh Australian sun, beach life on one hand, but also dried farm lands and a sense of abandonment and isolation.
Moving from bustling Europe to such an isolated and barren place has been an interesting experience and creatively challenging but also rewarding. Although I did find myself living in one of the “bigger” Australian cities the isolation is noticeable when it comes to finding like-minded creatives to work with or the general mindset of people, but it’s interesting to observe different ways of life, make new experiences and keep learning – and to know that limitations can turn into opportunities and challenge you to simply think in different ways. Or in other words – if you think there’s nothing for you to photograph where you live, maybe that says more about you than the place you’re living in.”
