The Blue Hour

Having grown up in the township and city centre of South Africa has helped shape the artist’s experiences and visual language. “My interest in making photographs came from my inability to draw so I started making photographs instead”. The photographer’s work fuses creative storytelling and documentary to explore youth narratives in the fashion, music, cultural and commercial space.

‘The Blue Hour’ is part of a 4 part fashion editorial series showcasing South African fashion labels. This series of images tries to bridge the gap between fashion and performance art through styling, lighting and creative makeup.

The brands featured in the first part are Sash which is a South African-based contemporary clothing brand. Telling authentic South African Stories through clothing. Imprint is an Afro-Futuristic Pan-African fashion brand. Created to celebrate the glamour as well as to tell the stories of African ancestors using iconic print, fabrics and specific points in time.
