Yunus Rosenzweig, better known as The Bird, presents his latest offering “I Like It,” which delves deep into personal aspirations and the intimate struggles with self-doubt. The new single narrates the pursuit of elusive goals and the introspection of life’s paths laid out by one’s choices, underscored by a prevailing sense of not measuring up.
With its sonic influences drawn from iconic 2010s pop giants like Lady Gaga, “I Like It” signals a transformative epoch in The Bird’s musical voyage, one that has previously explored realms from Eurodance to dubstep. Amidst a bustling schedule, including performances at Copenhagen Fashion Week for the Icon Visions event and composing the soundtrack for Sophia Khaled’s display, The Bird continues to expand his horizons, using the vibrant fashion milieu as an incubator for his innovative aesthetic pursuits and trailblazing trends.
I love the aesthetics of the American club scene from the early 10’s, so I wanted to recreate that aesthetic in my own music. I was really emotionally stable and happy during the period I made the song, and when I feel that way, I always work quickly and efficiently. The vocals were recorded in one take. The song is more sample-based than my other tracks. For example, in the intro, I sampled my best friend’s father’s noise project, Ato Vari.
The Bird’s discography boasts the emotive “Ballads by The Bird” and the dynamic “THIEF” EPs, plus the collaborative single “Angel” featuring Debbie Sings. His artistic footprint extends to celebrated appearances at Copenhagen Contemporary, Distortion festival, and collaborations including supporting First Hate, as well as melding creative energies with artist Esben Weile Kjær. Additionally, he’s contributed a DJ mix to the Posh Isolation label’s radio segment on NTS. Parallel to his personal project, Rosenzweig lends his production talent to other artists, such as Debbie Sings, Sofaygo, and hip hop ensemble BNO.
