Who Are We When No One Is Watching? The Raw Dissection of “BEHIND THE GLAMOUR”

Glamour is an elaborate construction, and someone always pays the price for maintaining the facade. This past weekend, Berlin creative space Studio 55 marked its first anniversary with BEHIND THE GLAMOUR, a gripping fashion theatre performance conceived and directed by Mariami Aianadi. Photographer Shin Jeong Hoo was right in the thick of it for KALTBLUT, bringing his visual magic to capture the tension, the quiet unraveling, and the raw theatrical charge of the evening.

Developed through the signature AIANADI Method, a layered framework fusing emotional narrative, storytelling, expressive movement, cultural dialogue, and immersive world-building—the performance tore down the traditional boundaries of the catwalk. Rather than treating fashion as detached commercial display, the runway became an intimate stage tracking a woman whose external veneer is immaculate: adored, envied, and entirely untouchable. Yet, beneath the polished armor, her authentic self is slowly eroding.

Seated uncomfortably close to the action, the audience watched her public persona get assembled live, garment by garment. Each designer piece functioned as another layer of social camouflage, curated armor for the gaze of strangers, until only one final look remained: the vulnerable, unvarnished self never intended for public consumption.

Aianadi’s production leaves an indelible sting, demanding the question: what does our obsession with glamour truly conceal, and who remains once the spectacle fades?
