Amanda Barise proves she’s “Cute and Deadly”

Amanda Barise’s voice is where rich jazz meets the vibrant pulse of modern R&B. From her New Jersey roots to the streets of New York City, she has been polishing her innate talents since age five. Growing up immersed in music, she eventually graduated from The New School with a BFA in Jazz and Contemporary Music and a BA in Culture and Media. During her studies, she received the Alice and John Coltrane Award of Excellence.

With accolades from Carrie Underwood, who called her “a once-in-a-generation vocalist with unmatched emotional depth,” to Lionel Richie, who praised her “pure silk” voice, Amanda has already made a significant mark on the music scene. Her journey includes contributions to R&B legend Joe’s Christmas album and a viral collaboration with Third Reprise, showcasing her versatility and talent. Her latest release is a powerful three-piece EP titled “Cute and Deadly,” which we’re excited to delve into today.

Just weeks after wrapping up her transformative journey on American Idol Season 23, Amanda Barise is poised to release her highly anticipated EP, “Cute and Deadly.” Co-produced alongside Grammy-winning engineer Max Faigen, this EP features a three-hit combo that delves into Amanda’s personal experiences, showcasing her powerful vocals and the versatility of her sound across three tracks that, while cohesive, each bring something unique to the table.

The title, “Cute and Deadly,” cleverly captures the duality of Amanda’s persona, reflecting how industry professionals have characterised her. After grappling with depression and self-doubt in her early twenties, Amanda has emerged as a determined young woman ready to take what’s hers. Since moving to Chelsea, NYC, in 2019, she has embraced her identity as both charming and fierce, understanding that to thrive in this environment and industry, one must be “cute and a little deadly.”

The EP unfolds as a triptych of personal narratives, showcasing Amanda’s evolution through three distinct tracks. The title piece, which debuted on May 14, sets the stage for this journey, while the sultry anthem “Girl Like Me” invites listeners into her world of self-empowerment. Then there’s “26,” a contemplative ballad that serves as a poignant reminder to embrace the present. Amanda’s lyrics pulse with her newfound vigour, weaving a tale of transformation from uncertainty to self-assurance. She confronts her detractors head-on, turning their doubts into fuel for her fire.

With “Cute and Deadly,” Amanda Barise not only showcases her dynamic vocal prowess but also crafts a compelling narrative about her resilience and artistic vision, inviting us to witness her evolution as an artist.
